Ready for some face pampering? This luscious face mask will help tighten and tone your skin which helps with pesky little wrinkles and makes your skin look radiantly young. If you love this recipe, you might like my Green Tea Eye Cream as well!
Green Tea Face Mask
Ingredients
1 tablespoon French green clay
1/4 teaspoon jojoba oil infused with green tea
1/2 teaspoon green tea powder
Water
Directions
Measure out the first 3 ingredients in a small bowl. Mix together very well. At first you will have little clumps from the oil, but continue to mix until the mixture is very smooth and clump free.
How to use
This will make about 3 applications, so if it's just you, you may want to measure out about 1 teaspoon and add a little water to make a smooth paste. OR you can add water to the entire batch if you're having a girls night. But once you add the water you will want to use this right away. Feel free to store the unwatered down portion in a small glass jar. It should last quite awhile.
Now back to applying this lovely green mask. Using your fingers, smooth the paste onto your face being careful to avoid the eyes and mouth. Allow it to dry for about 10-15 minutes or until partially dried out. Don't let it dry out completely as the tight pulling isn't good for those wrinkles! Remove with a warm washcloth by gently rubbing in circular motions until it's all off. Follow up with a lovely mist of toner and a good moisturizer.
Benefits of the ingredients
French Green Clay
Otherwise known as Sea Clay this stuff is fantastic for drawing impurities right out of your skin, especially small blemishes. This clay helps to tighten pores, reduces inflammation, and evens out skin tone all of which will help make your skin look younger. Because it is so great at pulling out toxins, it's best for skin types that tend toward oily. However, the addition of the jojoba oil helps balance out the drying effect.
Jojoba Oil
Jojoba oil is actually similar to a liquid wax and pretty much mimics the natural oils of your face. It does not clog the pores. Whether you tend to be more oily or more dry, Jojoba oil magically balance the oils of your face by moisturizing as well as removing sticky buildup. The antioxidants in the oil help to smooth fine lines, wrinkles, and slow the aging process.
Green Tea
All the delicious antioxidants found in green tea can also help the skin externally by reducing inflammation which helps reduce puffiness and delay the signs of aging. The tannins in green tea help to tighten and tone the skin, and the antibacterial properties can help eliminate acne.
NOTES
Feel free to substitute a different type of clay for your skin type. I just love the color of this one since we're focusing on the green tea.
If you don't have green tea infused jojoba oil, you can certainly just use plain jojoba oil.
To get my powdered green tea I use bulk green tea leaves and give them a whir in my Magic Bullet to get a fine powder. You could also substitute Matcha powder.
