Foaming Hand Soap

Foaming hand soap that's easy to make and healthy for your skin | Mossy Meadow Farm

I’m not sure you can find a more simple DIY recipe. This will take you seconds to whip up. Seriously—it’s going to take me 10 times longer to write this post than it will for you to make this. The only hard part (at least for me) was finding cute little glass foaming pump bottles. ;)

Now if you want to take this DIY to the next level, stay tuned because I will be sharing with you in the near future how you can actually make your own liquid castile soap. But that’s for another day. Today we’ll go with the quick and easy route!

foaming hand soap

Ingredients

  • Liquid castile soap (scented, unscented, it’s your call)

  • Water

  • Essential Oils (optional)

    • I use about 20 drops per 8 ounces of finished soap

    • See below for scent ideas

  • Foaming soap dispenser (Amazon is a great place to look)

Directions—

If you’ve been on Pinterest you’ll see all sorts of different recipes for making foaming hand soap. Honestly, I just eyeball it, you guys. This doesn’t need to be complicated. All you do is fill your foaming soap dispenser about 1/4 full of the liquid castile soap then add your essential oils—if you’re using them. Swirl those two around to disperse the essential oils. And finally slowly add in the water trying not to create too many bubbles.

The reason I don’t add the water first and then the soap is because the essential oils disperse in the soap much better than in the water. Makes the oils safer to use.

Seriously that’s it. My husband loves this soap, especially my citrus version because it gets off all his greasy grime from work. Huge win!

Why add essential oils?

Not only can you customize this soap and create the perfect scent you love, but the essential oils also contain beneficial constituents that can help clean, break down grease, and kill microorganisms. I’ll share a couple of examples of what I mean. These lists are not exhaustive by any means, but are simply meant to give you a starting point.

Also please note that some of these oils may or may not be safe for certain people or conditions. Always research any oils before you use them.

The skies the limit so, again, use oils that you love, but that are also safe for your entire family. (Remember small children have super sensitive skin so probably best to not use crazy strong oils like clove or cinnamon so Thieves might be out.)
