Poo-Pourri Spray
Well since I’m on a kick talking about lovely things like poop…the least I can do is make sure your bathroom doesn’t stink! ;)
Now generally I have always just made room sprays for my bathroom. You know, you go, then you spray, and hope someone doesn’t walk in right after you’ve done your deed. Sometimes the spray covers the smell, sometimes it doesn’t. It’s kind of a crap shoot. (Sorry, couldn’t help it.)
The idea behind a poo-pourri spray is that it supposedly traps the scent in the toilet bowl before ever reaching the air. So before you sit down on the pot, you would spray a couple spritzes directly onto the water in the bowl. Then you sit down and do the deed. The vegetable glycerin actually helps coat the surface of the water so the scent can’t escape. Now while this isn’t 100% fool proof, it certainly does seem to hold the scent in to some degree! I definitely recommend trying it—especially for those moments when you have guests or company over.
Poo-Pourri Spray
Ingredients
2 ounces witch hazel hydrosol
2 tablespoons vegetable glycerin
1-2 ounces vodka
30-40 drops essential oils
4 ounce fine mist spray bottle (preferably glass)
Directions
Measure out the hydrosol, vegetable glycerin and essential oils into a 4 ounce glass jar. Pour in the vodka just until full. Tightly screw on the lid, shake well, label, and it’s ready to use!
Essential Oil Scent Combinations
Here are a couple blends to get you started, but feel free to use any of your favorite oils or oil combinations. My personal favorite is the spice one.
Citrus
15 drops grapefruit
15 drops lemon
15 drops lime
Minty Lime
15 drops peppermint
15 drops spearmint
10 drops lime
Spice
20 drops orange
10 drops cinnamon
5 drops clove
5 drops nutmeg
